scupelabs is the research and development laboratory of iMEDgine GmbH. We combine technological and medical expertise and innovation with the insight in patients’ needs. Because our deep understanding of the special needs of patients is the basis for our product development.
With handscupe®, we have developed an innovative positioning device that specifically supports the treatment of rheumatic or paretic symptoms of the hand while significantly alleviating the patient’s symptoms.
Our products go through a long process – from the idea to development and testing – until they are evaluated in clinical trials and used by patients. All steps take place in close cooperation with physicians and therapists. In this way, we ensure the maximum safety and level of performance of the handscupe®.
Design, manufacturing, and quality assurance of our products exclusively take place in Germany, at the Upper Franconian company site in Lichtenfels.
Day by day, we are passionately working on developing innovative solutions that are demand-driven and help improve the patients quality of life. In doing so, we focus on generating real added value for patient care.
The quality of our actions and our products is the major focus throughout the entire life cycle of our medical devices. We continuously develop and improve the processes that are part of our products.
It is our ambition to continuously improve the handscupe® by conducting clinical studies and test series. Thus, individual prototypes were manufactured during the development of the handscupe®, based on the anatomical data from more than 300 human hands and on the anatomically correct wrist position.
iMEDgine GmbH is a spin-off of a company called Robert Hofmann GmbH. This company is one of the largest and most successful rapid-prototyping providers worldwide. Around 200 employees manufacture prototypes, tools, test and jig gauges, pilot production and serial production products for OEM customers in the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries and for their system suppliers.
The company has decades of experience and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for the production of complex individual parts, components, and entire assemblies. By acting in a market- and customer-oriented manner and by promoting innovations, such as the early recognition of the potential of 3D printing, Robert Hofmann aims to secure its leadership in the growing international competition sustainably and in the long term.
